What will come of the 2012 Election?

I don't have a great deal of time (or patience) to follow politics, but I can't help but be disheartened when I see the canvas of the 2012 election being painted by ultra conservative individuals who desire to set the country back years in the name of "progress."

President Obama has been the 1st president to support equal rights for same sex unions. President Obama successfully led the repeal of DADT. These are likely 2 reasons that reactionary conservatives may vote against Obama. You see, a vote for Romney may be in many cases more accurately a vote against Obama. The lesser of 2 evils as it were. What ever happened to the separation of church and state anyway?
Here is an article why some people will be voting for Obama. I am looking for real reasons why conservatives will be voting for Romney. Many conservative voters have historically been evangelical Christians. How do mainstream Christians feel about Romney being a Mormon? Well, as I said above, it seems like a conservative may just vote for anyone who is against any gay rights issues.

Here is a link for a fairly current map of how the electoral votes currently fall in favor of each candidate. Time will tell how the polls eventually shake out, and what actually happens in the November 2012 vote.

If there was a "hell no" button

14th amendment to the constitution:

"No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." 

Minnesota is not the 1st State in the Union to attempt to write discrimination into their State Constitution. I am intrigued by this speech by the St. Rep. in the above video. But it would seem that his approach to this topic would be in the minority. (Especially since the MN. House did pass the bill). 

Voters in 28 states have approved constitutional amendments or initiatives that define marriage as "the union of a man and a woman." Has any political figure, or voter, in any of those 28 States read the quote at the beginning of this post from the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of the USA?

The next clip is quite telling about what matters, in the end, when it comes to equality for all people in the USA. LGBT individuals are good enough to fight for our freedoms all over the world, but not good enough to deserve full and equal protection of the laws in America? If only there was a "hell no" button.

Up in the air

My first post from 30,000 feet. Wonder what took the airlines so long to allow WiFi on flights? It's a money maker and keeps folks busy.
What a day. I woke up to this news. I did a double take of the TV at first, I am not sure I thought anyone would ever find Bin Laden (except of course all the camera men who taped his threatening TV messages).
Weird day to be flying. Although no one at the airports or on the planes really seemed to give much attention to the big news. Hmm...

DADT-- Let it be no more

Finally! Brave LGBT Americans who courageously choose to serve our country received good news last night -- and (hopefully, based upon the final decision of Congress) will be able to continue to serve in the U.S. Military.
A federal judge (U.S. District Judge Virginia Phillips) ordered the military 10/12/10 to immediately stop enforcing its ban on openly gay troops, bringing the 17-year "don't ask, don't tell" policy closer than it has ever been to being abolished.
Alexander Nicholson of Service Members United, was the only vet named in suit that toppled it.
